Did you know?

• 98% of cloned animals have genetic deformities. Cloning humans is likely to have the same effect.
  
  
• Scientists hope that stem cells can be used to help people with incurable illnesses and disabilities but we do not need to use embryos or create clones to do this; there are other sources.
  
  
• PGD tests embryos, created by IVF, for genetic disabilities or to select a tissue match to treat an older sibling with a disability.
  
  
• In Britain research may be carried out on human embryos up to 14 days after conception. After 14 days they must then be destroyed.
